A is for Ashmolean Museum – free family fun with great trails and regular events.

B is for Blenheim Palace – get lost in the maze, master the adventure playground and explore the palace and grounds.  There are lots of great events running during school holidays too.

C is for Cotswold Wildlife Park – take a walk on the wild side with lions, rhinos, giraffes and almost any animal, bird and reptile you could think of.

D is for Didcot Railway – with a unique collection of steam engines, why not time your visit to one of their steam days.

E is for Earth Trust – There are great family events, walks and courses throughout the year, including lambing weekends, summer picnics and Mother’s Day crafting.

F is for Farm Parks – there are lots of great ones to choose from for a great full family fun day out.

G is for Gators – discover the world of crocodiles at the UK’s only crocodile zoo, Crocodiles of the World.




H is for Hinksey Outdoor Pool – summer fun in the warm outdoor heated pool.

I is for Ice Skating – Oxford Ice Rink makes a perfect visit especially on a cold, wet day.  They also run special skate sessions for little ones and learn to skate classes.

J is for Jump – visit one of Oxfordshire’s many soft play centres to run off energy.

K is for Kilkenny Lane Country Park – with great paths to ride a bike or explore the unique play park.

L is for Lake – the Oxford Sailing Club is based at Farmoor Resevoir with youth sailing and windsurfing.

M is for Millets Farm – free entry to see the animals and enjoy the play park.  They also have regular events over the school holidays.

N is for the Natural History Museum – if you haven’t been you really must.  It’s a favourite in my family, especially the dinosaurs.

O is for the Oxfordshire Museum  in Woodstock- another one perfect for dinosaur lovers and it’s free entry too.

P is for Punting – quintessentially Oxford and a wonderful experience for kids who can sit still!

Q is for Quarry – the quarry at Kirtlington is a lovely area to explore.

R is for Rectory Farm – picking your own vibrant red strawberries creates wonderful childhood memories and there’s a bouncy castle and sandpit too.  Oxfordshire has lots of PYO’s to choose from.

S is for Sydlings Copse – a great little nature trail where you can climb up high for some bird spotting.

T is for train – ride the miniature train at Cuttleslowe Park then feed the ducks, dig in the huge sandpit or play a game of mini golf.

U is for Upton Playpark – The playground has lots of challenging wooden equipment including a climbing structure with high ropes and monkey rings, a 4 person see-saw  and the obstacle course with balance beams and a tube net tunnel.

V is Vale & Downland Museum – a hidden gem in Wantage that often has events for families.

W is for Whittenham Clumps – wander through the wildflower meadow, discover local wildlife and ancient archaeological features then reach the top for panoramic views.

X is for x marks the spot- a Treasure Hunt themed walking Treasure Trail around Abingdon.

Y is for Yum – who doesn’t love an ice cream?  Try the Milk Shed at Weston On The Green for an amazing selection of homemade ice cream.

Z is for zzzzzz – bedtime stories and more at the Story Museum , Oxford’s magical museum for all ages with 1001 great stories and a surprise around every corner.
