Day Out With Thomas & Meet Father Christmas

Thomas is a regular visitor to Didcot Railway Centre where he is welcomed by his friends the Great Western engines. Why not book in advance online? (Booking Fees apply). Bookings now open for December 2016.

The Fat Controller supervises Rev.W.Awdry’s classic children’s favourite – Thomas the Tank Engine on his ‘Day Out With Thomas™’ visits.

At Christmas Thomas likes to take all his young friends to visit Father Christmas in his grotto. A wide range of souvenirs is available in the ‘Thomas’ shop.

There is a Refreshment Room serving lunches, snacks and drinks also a picnic area where you can sit and watch the trains go by.

‘Day Out With Thomas’ and meet Father Christmas in 2016 will be on:

  • Saturday 3 – Sunday 4 December
  • Saturday 10 – Sunday 11 December
  • Saturday 17 – Sunday 18 December
  • Wednesday 21 – Thursday 22 December

Booking Details

Admission prices, which include rides on the trains and other activities are:

  • Adult – £15.00
  • Child aged 1-15 (includes a present from Father Christmas) – £15.00
  • 60+ – £13.00

Special admission offers including child free, money off, 2 for 1 and Tesco Clubcard vouchers may not be used for ‘Day Out With Thomas’ events.

Great Western Society Members will be charged:

  • Adult – £5.00
  • Child aged 1-15 (includes a present from Father Christmas) – £15.00
  • 60+ – £4.00

Family membership cannot be purchased in lieu of admission fee on Day Out With Thomas days.

Admission tickets are on sale on the day but you can book in advance online (Booking Fees apply). Bookings now open for December 2016.

Thomas’ last scheduled run to Father Christmas’ grotto is at 3pm on each day of operation and you should arrive at the Railway Centre by 2:30pm to ensure you are on the platform in good time.

Sorry, but they do not have space to accommodate prams or buggies on their trains, or in their restaurant. Buggy Parks are provided by the entrance to the both train rides and outside the restaurant. You should also be aware that there is an unavoidable flight of 18 steps at the entrance to the Railway Centre.
