Music with Mummy Lightwater Class Review

Music with Mummy classes involve a structured programme of weekly classes for pre-school children aged three and under. Each half term the children are introduced to a different learning concept through a new theme in the songs, games and activities.

This weeks theme for the class was Rain, and it was the perfect week for this class seeing as all we’ve had recently is rain. We started the class with lots of rain themed songs, and the little ones were able to join in with singing, dancing and also putting the weather symbols onto the map also.

We were able to all choose an instrument for the songs which we sung in the class, and there was a lot of variety. Noah choose the noisy drum and Isabella had the hand rattle, they both had fun playing their instruments to the music and dancing around to the tunes. Noah was also able to copy some of the hand actions to the songs too.

A very popular activity was with the water, keeping inline with the theme of rain the class was given a bucket of water and was able to experiment with the different sounds of splashing, using materials to make different sounds of water they had great fun in dropping and throwing things into the bucket to make the sounds.

Towards the end of the class the lights were switched off and we experienced sensory lights and colours on the ceiling, we also had a bubble machine which the little ones had great fun in trying to pop. It was a lovely way to experience the songs and the children could use their different senses to join in on the fun too.

There are various Music with Mummy classes around the area, we tried the one based in Lightwater which was held at West End Social club.
