A trip out to pick your own fruit makes a wonderful outing with children. We picked blackberries in September at The Old Farm Shop, near Harwell.
We were given some empty punnets and were free to pick our own blackberries. There are several rows of bushes so there was plenty of juicy berries to choose from. At other times of the year, you can also pick your own strawberries, raspberries, red, white and blackcurrants, tayberries, jostenberrys as well as green and red gooseberries.
There is plenty of parking in front of the shop. You can purchase other fresh fruit, vegetables and meat at the shop as well as selection of home baking and jams, chutneys and pickles.
Children might also enjoy visiting the chicken enclosure – for those keen to feed the hens, food can be purchased at the shop. Lambing also takes place in April – see The Od Farm Shop website for more details.
