Rainbow Junk Frame

What do you do with all the plastic tat that you accumulate from party bags and Christmas crackers? Here’s a really fun little project which uses up the junk to create a kitsch picture frame. The hot melt glue is brilliant as the items stick instantly and don’t slide around – however be careful as the glue gets very hot!rainbow junk, craft idea with party bag junk, recycled craft, rainbow frame, diy frame, recycled craft projects for kids, sticking plastic toys onto frame with hot melt glue gun

You will need:

  • Small toys/ colourful junk / colourful beads or buttons
  • Old picture frame (or try making your own from corrugated cardboard)
  • Hot melt glue gun

How to make the rainbow junk frame:

  • Sort out the plastic junk into rainbow colours.  We made a pile of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink and black.
  • Using a hot melt glue gun, stick the junk around the frame in colour segments.  We found it best to stick on the biggest item in a colour first and then fit the smaller items around it and fill in any small gaps with buttons or beads.
