There’s something special about putting on your cosy PJs and curling up together on the sofa as a family to watch a Christmas Movie. If you’re looking for some Christmas film ideas that kids will enjoy, here’s some great suggestions from Mum bloggers.
THE CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES
The Christmas Chronicles on Netflix Anklebiteradventures.
The Christmas Chronicle on netflix. Only came out last year but became a quick favourite in our house. Weve watched it lots, easy feel good film. www.twoheartsoneroof.com
Home Alone! Such a classic and my little ones love all the slapstick comedy. www.emilyandindiana.com
Father Christmas – it’s based on the book by Raymond Briggs and has a cameo from The Snowman which he also wrote. It’s not too long in length meaning it’s a great one for younger kids too & you’ll all be singing “another blooming christmas” afterwards!
I really enjoyed the animated version of The Grinch that was released last year
Frozen, although it’s not strictly about Christmas it feels very Christmassy! If the kids are a little older then Love Actually www.themummybubble.co.uk
THE POLAR EXPRESS
We love The Polar Express here. Such a magical story and we watch it every Christmas Eve. www.amielizabeth.com
It’s Polar Express here too. We absolutely love it, steam train mad family, and we have our own magic sleigh bell, when my son had a wobble about believing last year I got him to get our sleight bell out, he could hear it and the belief came back!
We are huge fans of Scrooged – it isn’t Christmas until we have all day down and watched it! www.allaboutamummy.co.uk
THE GRUFFALO’S CHILD & STICK MAN
Not technically a Christmas film but The Grufallo’s Child and Stick Man are firm favourites with my four-year-old. Short enough to hold his attention throughout and wholesome family entertainment when the weather is too cold to go outside! https://gluingcheese.co.uk
The Snowman animation. No words just moving music and your imagination. It’s a big part of our Christmas and we watch it EVERY Christmas Eve. This year we are booked in to see the live tour too, I can’t wait! https://dirtdiggersanddinosaurs.com
SANTA CLAUS THE MOVIE
Santa clause the movie 1,2&3, our favourites we watched them a few times before the big day last year! Threelittlezees.co.uk
Arther Christmas – it’s about a son of Father Christmas who’s seen as the laughing stock of the family but he’s the one with the true Christmas spirit. It’s great for the whole family. www.savings4savvymums.co.uk
MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL
Muppets Christmas Carol. I used to watch it all the time with my sisters when I was younger and was so excited to find out my other half loves it too. Now we watch it with our boys and hopefully they’ll grow up with it like we have! ‘Light the lamp, not the rat!’ www.mumfullofdreams.com
Muppets Christmas Carol is always a fave www.imperfectmummy.com
MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET
We love Miracle on 34th Street, with Richard Attenborough as Kris Kringle, and Mara Wilson as the little girl! www.arosetintedworld.co.uk
Elf!!! Has to be the best! www.thefamilyticket.com
RISE OF THE GUARDIANS
Rise of the Guardians. It’s not just for Christmas, it’s for nearly every major holiday. It shows how important love, generosity, selflessness and faith are. Better for slightly older kids as Pitch might scare the little ones. https://liveablissfullife.com
Nativity! In fact, all of the Nativity movies are fab – UK based (Coventry) funny and some great actors involved! We all love it! www.the-WillowTree.com
