Blaze Farm

Blaze Farm is a small family run ice cream farm in the grassy green hills of the peak district. There’s ample parking and there’s no entry fee. All they ask is that you don’t bring your own picnic.

It’s ideal for families with younger children and provided us with a lovely morning out amongst the farm animals, taking in the views whilst the children ran off some energy on the nature trail.  The farm has goats, pigs, horses, and sheep roaming around in enclosed fields.  There is a barn which has chickens and little chicks in – the children loved seeing all the little ones huddled next to their Mums!

Making the most of your visit at Blaze Farm

The nature trail starts at the tearoom and takes you around the farms many acres of land, ask the staff upon arrival and they will explain where it starts, you can photograph the items to look out for before you head off. The short walk is just about doable with a buggy, but I would recommend a baby carrier, if you have one. There are various things for the children to spot along the way which kept my two really engaged, its ideal for toddlers and Primary School children.

Little tip look out for the fairy garden at the start of your trail! The longer route which is still short enough for little legs takes you back round to the farm, via a lilly pond with plenty of opportunities to spot the farm animals. Both can be walked inside of an hour.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, the tea rooms have a selection of lunchtime snacks to choose from and the home-made ice cream selection is impossible to resist! From traditional flavours you’d expect to more exotic guest flavours, you’ll be spoilt for choice. For lunch, choose from toasted sandwiches, baked potatoes or soup; morning or afternoon tea are also served with a freshly baked scone or slice of cake. Half portions are available for children which makes lunch for a family of 4 very reasonable in price.  There are indoor and outdoor seating areas but wherever you choose to sit, you can enjoy a lovely view with your brew!
