Helping your child to look at the world with renewed curiosity and enhancing their sense of well-being through creativity.

Cultivating Wonder is the world’s first online course combining photography and mindfulness for children aged 5-9 and 10-16.  Designed to awaken a sense of wonder about the world, it takes children on a voyage of exploration and creativity through photography.

The online photography course is a lovely way of improving your child’s well-being and imagination. As you journey through the course, your child will gain a whole new way of looking at the world and reawaken their sense of wonder.

The course will also allow your child to discover their own voice, connect them with their creativity and improve their sense of self.

It will give your child the tools for a healthier mindset as they observe their environment more closely.

It will help your child resist the pull of the technological world as they explore a new visual language, perhaps for the very first time.

It will give your child additional confidence at learning a new skill as they take ownership of this. This especially helps children who might struggle with shyness or are overly self-conscious as it gives them an outlet to find their voice without the need to be centre of attention and be able to engage with people but from behind the camera.

It will help give your child the ability to develop photography as a skill and take it forwards over the next few years, engaging with their favourite hobbies and sports in a new way as they look at things from a different perspective.

It will also allow your child to hopefully receive positive affirmation from you as they get feedback on their photos.

Your child doesn’t need a specialist camera; any camera will do including a phone camera.

— Helen, Pinner London (8 and 11 year old daughters on the course)

“This course inspired me to want to become a photographer! I now don’t want to go anywhere without a camera!”

— Sam, aged 10, Teddington, London

“We signed our daughter on to Jonathan’s course thinking we could tick another lockdown box activity for her, but ended up following the course ourselves with great anticipation every week.”

— Corinna, north London (11 year old daughter on the course)

“If the objective of the course was to inspire and motivate young photographers, it succeeded 100%. After doing this course, my 11 year old son is more inspired than ever with his photography.”

— Louisa, Abingdon, Oxfordshire (11 year old son on the course)

“I got to spend time with my son in a different way to the usual, where I saw the world through an 8-year old’s eyes. Fun, fun, fun.”

— Nicola, Oxford (8 year old son on the course)

“I loved doing the photography course for so many reasons, not least because I loved seeing Jonathan’s pets when they kept escaping! I also loved taking photos a lot, especially photos with a mirror.”
