Dunstable Recreation Ground and Splash Park

Wooden Play Area, Gated Play Area, Splash Park and Field!

We stumbled across this Play Area when we needed to drive a little further so our youngest could sleep. We will definitely be going back!

Bennett’s Adventure Play Area comprises of a huge field with courts, a Splash Park, Cafe, Toilets and 2 Play Areas.

We started at the wooden play area (it was super cold and dull so the photos aren’t great!)

There is plenty to do with slides, balance trails, see-saws, mounds and a double zip line so you can race side by side!

“Children can enjoy the five platform multiplay unit with two slides, adventure trail climbing jungle, climbing boulder, two set in the ground trampolines, a rustic seesaw, a multi child swing, low level trail climbing path, 3 low level bridge jungle climbing routes, 35 stepping posts set at various heights and a double zip wire aerial runway. ”

There is also a more traditional gated play area with metal equipment but this did have a few more interesting pieces too including a super cool wobbly balance trail. My youngest loves swings so some of the big wooden parks can disappoint her so this was a great addition to our trip!

The splash park was closed but I am sure it will be reopening soon with restrictions lifting and the weather changing. The splash park was secure with gates and seemed big enough for young ones. The cafe was right next door but again looked like it was linked to the splash park opening times.There was also access to toilets via a buggy and wheelchair friendly slope behind the cafe.

We parked in the Rec car park but there is plenty of parking in the pay and display areas right along from the park in town only 2 minutes away along with other food outlets. I have been told there is plenty of parking space at Ashton Square car park (off Bull Pond Lane and West Street) which is free on Sundays, Tuesday afternoons and bank holidays.

We will definitely be making this one of our day trip and picnic spots this Summer.
