What’s On For Kids : October Half Term Cheshire 2023

Halloween falls just after the October Half Term holiday this year and there are lots of spooktacular events happening in Cheshire, the Wirral and Greater Manchester.   If you’re looking for ideas of where to go with the kids over October Half Term and family friendly Halloween activities, then look no further.

October Half Term Activities in Cheshire 2023

Cockfields have 3 fantastic pumpkin picking events on the farm. Staring off with Little Pumpkin Pickers which is targeted to the smaller kids during half term, which include lots of fun activities like pumpkin picking and carving, spooky storytime, and a haunted tractor hayride.

The main event has all the pumpkin picking and exciting activities that the little ones have, but instead of a story time they have a fantastic trick or treat training show!

For something a little different try Pumpkins After Dark, with pumpkin picking under magical festoon lighting, and live musical entertainment.


Church Farm family fright festival (Thurstaton) 30th Sep – 29th October

Lots of spooky fun this October- fun activities, friendly animals and awesome views for you to see.

Halloween Spectacular at Malpas Farm (Malpas) 1st – 31st October

As well as their Halloween trail and pumpkin patch there are lots of new activities this year from tractor rides to bouncy castles and toy mini diggers.

Halloween Lakeside Light Trail (Warrington) selected dates from 2nd – 31st October

Stroll along a winding path that hugs the water’s edge, leading you on a magical journey through woodland transformed by eerie and captivating lights.

Magical Woodland Light Experience (Northwich) 6th – 31st October

In the heart of the Cheshire Countryside, experience nature in all its Autumnal glory, lit up by dazzling cathedral canopies of fairy lights, interactive light features, and dancing tunnels of Borealis-style lasers.

Halloween Festival at Reddish Vale Farm (Reddish, near Stockport) 7th – 29th October

Come down to Reddish Vale Farm for a spooktacular time this Halloween, visit all our animals and indoor/outdoor play area and then join in some ‘fangtastic fun’. They have a pumpkin patch too.

Gandy’s Halloween Spooktacular at the Trafford Centre (Manchester) 13th – 31st October

An international cast of over 30 artistes returns to the Trafford Centre this Halloween to wow audiences in a production staged in Gandeys Big Top of Dreams

Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade at BeWILDerwood Cheshire (Malpas) 14th – 31st October

See the woods in whole new light, as you adventure through the magical light extravaganza and watch the story unfold as you journey through the woods down mysterious paths exclusive to this event.

Halloween Hearts trail  (Disbury) 20th October – 5th November

Halloween Trails at National Trust Lyme (Disley near Stockport) 21st – 29th October house trail and Halloween Garden trail until 5th Nov

Visit the house to explore a mystery trail where you will follow clues hidden in the rooms to find the evidence that almost cost Peter Legh XII his head!  Outside on the Halloween garden trail discover the spooky stories that linger within the shadows and take part in fun activities to uncover the Lyme’s secrets. Can you break the code and claim your treasure?

Halloween at Alderford (Whitchurch) 21st – 29th October

It’s all getting rather spooky at Alderford Lake with a brand new drive in cinema and Halloween events for kids of all ages (and event an over 18s Nightmare Island too)

Fright Fiesta at Gulliver’s World (Warrington) 21st – 31st October

A festival-style Halloween that’s bursting with colour, costumes and music. Showcase your fancy dress costume or delve deep into the theme park and discover our spooktacular rides.

Pirate pumpkin trail  at Blakemere Village (Northwich) 21st – 31st October

Spot the spooktacular pumpkins on this fun outdoor trail around Blakemere Village! Who dares to enter Ghouls Graveyard to find the long-lost pirate treasures?

Brereton Heath Nature Reserve Halloween trail (near Congleton) 21st – 29th October

Some spooky visitors are visiting the Brereton Heath Nature Reserve near Congleton this half term! Can you explore the park and find them all?

Autumn Stories & Crafts at Dunham Massey National Trust 21st – 29th October

Half term weekends bring storytelling between historic walls while midweek are for nature creations with pop-up poetry and autumn craft.



Teggs Nose Country Park Halloween trail (Knutsford) 21st – 29th October

Some spooky visitors are visiting the park this half-term! Can you explore the park and find them all? Buy a map from the Tegg’s Nose Tea Room for 50p and get searching around the top of the park.

Halloween day maze at Seven Sisters Ice Cream (Knutsford) 21st – 22nd Oct + 25th – 29th October

Enjoy a spooky Maize Maze with live Boo Crew

Halloween Half Term at Beeston Castle (Beeston) 21st October – 5th November

Take part in a Halloween quest and discover magical potion ingredients. Complete the booklet’s activities and solve its creepy clues to become a wonderfully wicked witch’s apprentice!

Mini Off Roaders at Capesthorne Hall (Siddington) 23rd to 29th October

Drive yourselves around the Spooky Safari this Halloween if you dare!

Bolton Abbey Welly Walk (Bolton) until 29th October

Let your little ones put their balance skills to the test, scramble up nets, navigate the pole-to-pole and try their hardest to keep clean as they come down the slides! With many more obstacles in-between – it’s fun from start to finish!

Halloween Spooktacular at Castaway Play (Congleton) 23rd – 29th October

Join the Castaway school of witchcraft and wizardry this October half term. Wednesday Adams will be teaching her Tik Tok dance, there will be spooky animal handling, guest appearances and lots more.

Half Term Horrors at Capesthorne Hall (near Macclesfield) 23rd – 29th October

The Woodland Walk and Landmark Trail will have a few extra guests…they also have some Halloween crafts on offer.

Spooktacular Family Event with Cheshire Forest School 28th + 31st October

The woodland will be decorated for Halloween with plenty of free play opportunities with a spooky feel! There will be potions to create in the mud kitchen and a ninja line to tackle. But will you manage to avoid the spiders and bats as you go? There are straplines to balance along, hammocks to relax in and swings in the trees to enjoy and lots more.

Wizard’s Gathering at Tatton Park Old Hall (Knutsford) 26th – 29th October

Step into an enchanting realm of the Hidden Kingdoms and join us for an unforgettable family-friendly adventure like no other – The Troll King awaits your presence at the Wizard’s Gathering at the Old Hall this Halloween!

Spooky Saturday Halloween Event (Macclesfield) 28th October FREE

Macclesfield town centre will play host to Stilt-walking Scarecrows who will be on hand to keep an eye on things from above and the Ghostbuster’s have permission to park their car, the Ecto-1, in front of the Town Hall!

Halloween Breakfast Ball at Hard Rock Cafe (Manchester) 28th October

Feast on the all-American breakfast buffet and later enjoy fiendishly fun family entertainment including face-painting, ghoulish games and more.

Harry Potter Cinema on the Green (Cheadle) 28th October

Movies start at Sunset and open a few hours before for treats, eats and to get your seats!

Kids Social Halloween Silent Disco at Tatton Park (Knutsford) 28th October

In addition to the freaky, funky music, we will have freakishly ghoulish fancy dress competitions and the legendary Our Kids Social ‘Adams family’ photo frame for all of your fiendish family snaps!
