My boys and I headed to Harcourt Arborteum on Sunday afternoon for a good run around and the chance to immerse ourselves in Autumn. This is one of my favourite places to visit with the changing of each season from the bluebell woodlands in spring to a crisp Autumn walk.
The Acer Glade is vibrant with red leaves in Autumn and a great starting point for a family walk.
There are lots of paths to explore so you can make this as long or as short an adventure as you like. The path along the Acer Glade is hard packed and suitable for buggies or you can explore the weaving grass paths.
Being an Arboretum there’s a huge variety of trees from a monkey puzzle, to majestic English oaks or some stunning red woods. My 8 year old was fascinated by one where he couldn’t see the top.
There are some spectacular wild peacocks wandering around. They are wild animals though and it’s recommended that you don’t approach or try to feed them.
The main toilets are closed at the moment but part way round the 1 mile walk at the woodshed are composting toilets with hand gel.
