Langford Village Nature Reserve Bicester

The other week my friend sent me some photos of her kids at Langford Village Nature Reserve in Bicester and told me it was great for bikes and scooters.  My boys love a good razz around on their bikes so I headed there thinking I knew where I was going.

There are tracks marked on Google maps but no big green blob around it so we got well and truly lost.  As the bickering in the back of the car reached a peak, I spotted a bike route sign marked on Gavry Drive near Langford Park Lake and decided we’d just go an investigate whatever that was.  Turns out I found the right place!

It’s the perfect place to learn to ride a bike in Bicester, have a scoot around or go for a buggy walk.  The pathways are paved which makes it easy to ride on.  Forming a long almost rectangular shape, the paths gently wind and wiggle with lots of open grassy space  and trees.  There are plenty of spots perfect for a family picnic too.

The Langford Village blue line Bicester health route also runs through here. The blue marked routes are part of the Bicester Healthy New Town Programme.

We also spotted a little pond and had fun crossing over the small bridges.  There are also lots of fairy doors there are the moment, bright and colourful and full of imagination.  At the far end of the park (depending where you enter from), there’s a super stone circle which is great for imaginative games.

There are a couple of small play parks here too which we will come back to investigate when lockdown is over.

If you’re looking for more of a stretch on a family bike ride, head up to Waddesdon Greenway which has a great car free stretch for biking or scooting.
