Let’s Go Bonkers soft play in Carterton is the perfect place to let your kids run off energy, especially on a cold, wet day. It’s one of the larger ones with a multi level area for older kids to go loopy and unlike many indoor soft play centres, it also has a really good sized, dedicated area for under 5’s.
Formerly known as Darcey Bear’s, Let’s Go Bonkers is now under new ownership. Husband and wife team took over the indoor soft play centre in September 2018 and they have a huge drive and ambition to turn the place around. With 5 kids between them, they certainly know what families want and the changes are already hugely evident.
I had a chat with a few Mums when I visited and they were all really positive too. It takes a little while to get changes made but you can see on their Facebook page from November that they’re getting great feedback’
‘Lovely and clean, friendly helpful staff and the kids love it! Will definitely be coming back’
‘went today after the big refrub and what a difference few things left to do like painting but look 100 x better. food was amazing, young chap on cafe very friendly and great service.’
‘Much improved. Prices reduced which was a bonus. Food good. Great new area for under 5’s. Just maybe a little back ground music to drown out the children’
Soft Play for Under 5’s
What struck me first in the under 5s area is that it’s now gated. If you have a little one who is anything like mine and can disappear in the blink of an eye, this is great. The area itself has a good sized multi level climbing apparatus with slides. There’s also a padded floor area with squishy things to climb on and a bouncy castle too. There’s no extra cost for the bouncy castle so they can bop away as long as they want. My 2 year old also enjoyed playing with the toy kitchen and other imaginative play items and had a good old jump in and out of the ball pit. The new owner Emma told me they have plans to develop this area further.
Soft Play for Bigger Kids
No indoor soft play centre would be complete without a giant multi level area to climb about and Let’s Go Bonkers has it. It’s a little worn in areas but nothing that would hinder any fun and it’s kept properly clean.
Did you know they have a laser storm? This was a complete surprise to me and is great for children’s birthday parties with it’s own connected party room. Grab your laser gun and hunt, clambering through soft play equipment in a darkened room. They even have a smoke machine which add some extra atmospheric excitement.
Eating & Drinking at Let’s Go Bonkers
The new owners have plans for a menu revamp but in the meantime they have already invested in the kitchen equipment to speed up service. They have the usual kids favourites from chicken nuggets to pizza and they do two different sizes so you don’t end up paying a fortune for a massive plate of food that would be too much for a toddler.
Let’s Go Bonkers gets the thumbs up from me, we’ll definitely be back and excited to see the soft play centre develop further too.
