Longford Park Stretford

At the moment, I have Fridays off work and I have only got a limited number of Fridays left before my eldest starts reception. So every Friday, we are off exploring and making memories together. This week we headed to Longford Park in Stretford and it was absolutely brilliant with so much to do.

Longford Park Playgrounds

Opposite the smaller car park there is a lovely green open space with an older children’s play park. This park had a zip wire which my little girls did not fancy but I had a go and loved it. There was also a great slide, a little bridge and what can only be described as a big artificial rock to climb over. My girls are under 5 so couldn’t really make use of it, I’d say it would be perfect for age 7 and up.

Just opposite the café is another play park that is perfect for younger children. It had the most baby swings I have ever seen which was absolutely brilliant, my littlest is obsessed with swings and it usually ends in tears when I get her out so other children can have a go.

There were smaller children’s slides, roundabouts and equipment as well as a larger play frame with a circular slide. My girls had such a good time here and it really felt like there was something for everyone.

Longford Park Cafe

A little further on there was a path that led us to the café.

The café was really lovely with a small indoor seating area and a much larger outdoor space. It had toilets which are always useful with little ones and a great selection of cakes and snacks to choose from. We tried the chocolate brownies and they were delicious!

Pets’ Corner – Longford Park Animal Farm

We also discovered a lovely little animal farm that is completely free to enter. We saw a goat, lots of chickens and ducks which was a really lovely and unexpected surprise for the girls. It was quite small so not worth the trip just for this but a great added bonus if you are planning a trip there anyway.

The park itself is so much bigger than I expected. As we carried on exploring, we found multi-use sports courts, long flat paths perfect for bike riding and scooting and even an athletics stadium tucked away in one corner.

Longford Park Parking

We entered through Cromwell Road into the smaller car park, although there is a much larger one which is accessible off Ryebank Road M32 8PX if you are planning a longer stay or visiting at a busier time, for me I prefer the smaller car park as my youngest is refusing to go in the pram at the moment and her little legs means everywhere takes ages to get to.

All in all it was such a fun day and a great way to spend one of our precious Fridays. Longford Park had a little bit of everything and we will definitely be heading back again soon.
