Morris Way Playing Fields and The Watersplash Splash Park

I just had the best family afternoon this week exploring the brand-new splash park at Morris Way Playing Fields (aka “The Watersplash”) and it’s a real local gem!

Splash Pad fun at The Watersplash London Colney

Nestled in the heart of Morris Way Playing Fields (on White Horse Lane), this vibrant, ocean-themed splash pad opened at the end of May and is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm through early September—no booking required!

The park space spans roughly 107 m² and features 15 fun water features: expect sea‑horse showers, a pirate ship with tipping buckets, arching water fences, and that show-stopping Sea Scoundrel Ship. It’s like an under‑sea adventure right here in London Colney!

London Colney Playground and Lush Big Fields

Just a splash away is the massive playing fields area and play ground—perfect for post-soak action. Think football, frisbee, tag… whatever your kids fancy. The open green spaces are perfect for a relaxed picnic too.

We had lots of fun in the playground which caters for toddler and older children up to id say age 12. The equipment in the playground has retro vibes which we love, including a helter skelter and a climbing frame, and two more slides, a roundabout and swings. The playground is gated which we love as feels safe.

As if you need anymore reasons to visit, there’s a small free car park off White Horse Lane, with extra spots down Haseldine Road if it fills up.

Snack on the go

No need to rush home for refreshments! There’s a neat café kiosk nestled by the splash pad, selling cold drinks, coffees, ice creams—and grab essentials like aqua nappies, towels, and even toys.   On busy sunny days, you might even catch a snack van cruising the fields—it’s exactly what you want after a water fight with the kids!

Why we love Morris Way Playfields & the Splash Pad

All‑age enjoyment: Little ones adore the gentle sprays and colourful seabed-themed soft wetpour, while older kids go wild with the pirate ship and tipping buckets.

Chill-out zones: Shaded sails above the seating area (they even picked the council-colour theme!) mean you can relax while keeping an eye on the fun.

Super convenient: Open daily with free parking and no pre-booking? That’s a summer win for us parents. It’s also a smaller splash park so gets busy less, perfect for when you are wanting a quieter time.

Grab your swimsuit, sunscreen, and a picnic blanket . Whether you’re chasing toddlers through the sprays or lounging in the shade with a good book, the splash park + playground + big fields + snack kiosk = a perfect afternoon in the sun.

See you down there!
