Music Box is a music school based in Oxford. it specialises in teaching musicianship to children, through classes,instrumental ensembles and choirs.
Tinder Box (Musicianship classes for 3-8 year olds)
When children reach the age of about 3, they are ready move to a Tinder Box class where, once settled, they attend classes on their own.
The children now follow an integrated syllabus designed to give them a grounding in general musicianship. This has been developed by professional musicians over several years. It has been divided into 4 levels, each one lasting a year, and is based on principles established by Zoltan Kodaly and Emile Dalcroze.
Vox Box (non auditioned choir for girls and boys aged 6-12)
- Rehearsals are fun and concentrate on building a good basic vocal technique through a wide range of choral styles.
- Build musicianship skills which help the young singers to both understand and access written music with greater confidence.
- They meeet once a week for an hour and perform regularly throughout the year.
