Piccolo Land Role Play Village

There’s a new hot spot in Maidenhead for the under 6s, Piccolo Land! This role play village and café opened in May 2025 and we popped by to see what you can expect from a visit.

Role Play Village

Of course the main draw of Piccolo Land is their role play village which consists of six different areas for the little ones to explore.

These include a café/restaurant area equipped with lots of wooden toys like a pizza oven where you can construct your own pizza. There’s also a post office with lots of interactive elements like a parcel weighing station and wooden postcards to add stamps to a pop in the post box.

We also loved the hairdressers, construction zone and disco area which has lots of sensory toys to explore. My preschooler loved exploring all the different areas and I felt like it was thoughtfully laid out with lots that he could interact with.

It felt like each area was designed with play in mind, for example in the baby care area there is a cupboard full of nappies to change the baby dolls.

We had an hour to explore the role play village before moving over to a side area for story time.

Story Time and Songs

One of the unique features of the sessions at Piccolo Land is the story time or song time that is offered during the morning sessions. This was brilliantly led and kept all the children thoroughly engaged. Our storyteller drew in items from the role play village to encourage the children to ‘play along’ with the story. If this doesn’t sound like your child’s thing, you can also book on to afternoon sessions which are currently role play village only sessions.

Café

After all that playing there is also a bright and airy café on site which has a delicious looking menu for adults and kids. I was very tempted by the stuffed focaccia and there were also cake and the usual teas and coffees available. The café is right alongside the village area so you will be able to keep an eye on your little ones whilst you enjoy a break.

Location

Piccolo Land is conveniently located in the centre of Maidenhead with lots of other kid friendly activities and cafes nearby. It’s very close to Maidenhead Library, which has a great children’s section, and makes an ideal place to stop before or after your visit. Car parking can be tricky in Maidenhead centre but there are several options nearby and we managed to find a space without too much trouble.
