Today, the girls and I went for some fun in the Autumn sun at The Pirate Park, which is located in Loughton.
There is a car park next to the Grumpy Cook Coffee Shop (Loughton not Shenley Church End). Unfortunately, the coffee shop was closed due to COVID, however it’s a lovely coffee shop with great treats and also lots of different food options. We went during social distancing and it was brilliant, table service, track and trace and hands sprayed upon arrival. So it was a shame we couldn’t stop there again today.
The park is brilliant because it covers all ages. It has a pirate ship, sand pit, climbing frames, swings, sea-saws and much more. The girls loved playing in the sand particularly- top tip: take things to play with in the sand!
We had to improvise and use sticks but next time I will definitely ensure I pack the buckets and spades. I had assumed, as it had rained through the night, that the sand would be too wet to play in but it was fine. We were also fortunate that only one other person came as we were there. So we had a picnic on the picnic bench which is central to the park.
There’s also a separate play frame behind, ideal for slightly older children whilst in watching distance if you have a younger sibling in the smaller park.
This park can get very busy, we were fortunate today. But definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for fun, free and COVID safe ways to occupy the children! Nice to feel a little bit ‘normal’ for a few hours!
