Queen’s Park Heywood

Have you ever been to Queen’s Park in Heywood?

We spent a lovely morning at Little Town Heywood role play village, and on the way home, we passed a great park that we couldn’t resist stopping at for a quick play!

Queen’s Park is a beautiful open green space, with a gorgeous water fountain as its centrepiece. There are wide, flat paths that are perfect for pram friendly walks or bike rides!

The park is actually quite big, we only managed to explore part of it. Down a fairly steep hill, there’s a lake and a BMX track. Since I’ve got a toddler who’s absolutely obsessed with swimming, I thought it best to avoid the lake and stick to the play areas!

There were three different play areas to explore. The first was actually an outdoor gym and activity zone. Now, I usually try to stay as far away as possible from anything gym-related… but my little girl had loads of fun exploring the equipment and trying to hang from the bars! In a way, this was the most exciting part as everything felt new and different!

The second area was a small toddler park. There’s no age limit on any signs, but I’d say it’s best suited for under 3s. It featured a fire engine and some lovely equipment perfect for little ones to enjoy.

The third playground was fantastic! It had a small toddler climbing frame and slide, a large castle themed structure with a zip wire in a sandpit, and a big rope style climbing frame with a large slide.

Plus, all the classics were there swings, a seesaw, roundabouts, and even an inbuilt trampoline! The roundabout has wheelchair access, and there’s an accessible swing seat too, which is always great to see.

There’s a free car park on Queen’s Road, although I ended up parking on a nearby street because I didn’t realise the car park was there at first! In the middle of the park, there’s a café and toilets which is an essential when you’ve got two little ones in tow!
