Risborough Springs Swimming Pool – Warm and Quiet!

Risborough Springs Swimming Pool in Bucks

Lots of us have young children who haven’t been swimming for over a year, if at all and we are looking for a warm, friendly pool to have a family swim. I had been looking at swimming lessons in Bucks but many had long waiting lists or complicated Covid routines. Then we discovered Risborough Springs Swimming Pool, and what a little gem it is!

About the Swimming Pool

Risborough Springs has a large rectangular pool for lane swimming and family swim. Joining onto this pool at one side is their ‘Dolphin Pool’ which is 0.7m throughout and ideal for getting toddlers and young children used to the water and practicing their skills.

The Main Pool is 25m with 4 lanes and is approx 1m in the shallow end and 2m in the deep end.

The Learner Pool is 8m and is 0.7 throughout. This meant my 5 year old could stand up with water to his shoulders.

The pool is lovely and warm and had steps to get in and out, or just slide in off the side.

Swimming Lessons are possible but enquiries must go via the pool email or phone number.

Changing Rooms

Changing rooms can make or break and experience for me when out with the kids. The whole centre was very clean and the changing rooms were absolutely nothing to complain about!

The changing rooms were spacious and included family changing cubicles with fold down change tables and hanging rails and benches. We didn’t need to use lockers as at the moment (June 2021) during Covid they ask that you arrive pool ready and leave your belongings at the shallow end. You then change in the changing rooms before leaving via a side exit to support their one way system.

Does it have slides?

No, Risborough Springs does not have slides or water features, it is a basic pool. This won’t suit everyone but for us it was great as it meant it was not busy with screaming or charging about. We took our own swimming aids such as woggles and floats as I believe these cannot be borrowed during Covid.

Does it have a Cafe?

Again, no, this didn’t put us off at all though. The pool is just off the high street so you can pop there for food and drink from local businesses of which there are plenty!

Do we need to book for family swimming?

At the moment you need to book in advance and numbers are limited. We booked for a family swim which meant that for me, my mum and my 2 kids we paid a total of £7.50! What a bargain! We had a 45 minutes session which was plenty long enough.

We rang in advance to book and it turned out there was only one other family, so 8 of us in the whole pool! Bliss! Booking is about 2 weeks ahead and priority goes to members. You can also use the Dolphin Pool when Lane Swimming sessions are taking place.

Where is it?

We parked in the public car park just before the pool. This was pay and display. There is disabled parking only directly next to the pool.
