TG’s cafe at the Charlbury Community Centre was a great bonus find on a first trip the Nine Acres Recreation Ground (Charlbury playpark). TG’s café is run by Community Centre staff and volunteers and is open from 9am- 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am-5pm at weekends, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Nestled in with the lovely library it has a great community feel. I was greet with friendly service and some tasty looking treats. I chose the lemon loaf cake which was super moist with some delicious hidden lemon curd spots dotted through it and crunchy sugar topping.
Charlbury Deli remains their main supplier of consumables. There are board games and puzzles available if you want to use this space to meet and socialise in that way too.
With an active toddler who was desperate to explore the park, it was great to have the option to take it outside. There are gorgeous long wooden picnic benches to rest at outside or if the weather is a bit on the cold side, they have a comfortable seating area inside.
I’d definitely recommend popping along and trying out this cafe. For those of you with a beady eye, you might have also noticed that they sell prosecco, wine and beer … for the grown ups of course. They also have babycinnos free of charge. My tea and cake came to £3 which I thought was a bargain for the quality, atmosphere and service.
