The new Abbey Meadows playground in Abingdon is now open and is definitely worth a visit. A £320,000 investment has created a brilliant playground for kids of all ages in a beautiful setting by the river.
Abbey Meadows Playground
The new playground is beautifully landscaped with zones for children of different ages. Older children will enjoy the wooden fort with net tunnels, monkey bars, climbing nets and challenging 4-person swinging equipment.
For toddlers, there is a lovely zone including interactive sensory play boards, a tunnel, a mini fort and some cool rocking caterpillars. There are regular swings, baby swings and some basket swings.
The playground has lovely grassy areas and has been planted with lovely shrubs and flowers. Beyond the playground there are big areas to run around on the meadows with trees and the river nearby.
In the playground, there are lots of different seating areas including some picnic tables, so it’s a great place to meet friends, bring a picnic and hang out on a sunny day.
Abbey Meadows Playground Facilities and Splash Park
There is a carpark beside the playground with free parking for up to 2 hours. Beside the playground you can find some older toilet blocks. In 2017, the splash park was created which makes a great addition especially on a hot day. The abingdon family water park is right next to the playground which makes such a great combination.
