Bucklebury Farm Park is a favourite day out for my family. There’s a great mix of outdoor and indoor activities so suitable for all weather. With a large area to explore and a variety of activities all included in the ticket price, it’s easy to spend a whole day there with kids of all ages.
Bucklebury Farm Park is a great place to interact with farm animals. There is a daily ‘pat a pet’ session where you can hold guinea pigs, rabbits and sometime terrapins. During spring, it’s lovely to bottle feed new born lambs. Hens roam freely around the farm and there are sessions to go and collect eggs. You can also see pigs, deer, donkeys and ponies at any time of the day.
There is an indoor and several outdoor playground areas. The indoor area has a two-lane slide which you whizz down in sacks as well as some rather scary vertical drop slides. There is also a small netted climbing area. The indoor area has some picnic tables and serves coffee/ice cream/snacks and is a good place to have a picnic or go when it’s raining.
Outdoors, there is a wonderful playground with old tractors, a wooden combine harvester and a wooden fort. The little sand pit is a hit with toddlers in summer (including Prince George whose grandparents live nearby!)
Toddlers can try the Play Bus – a double decked bus which has been converted into a soft play zone complete with ball pit. Older children will love the giant jumping pillow trampoline or the pedal go kart track. There is also a zip line and a great obstacle course.
Deer Feeding Trip
The deer feeding trip is highly recommended. It runs every hour and is included in the ticket price. Participants hop onto a large covered trailer with seat which is towed by a tractor. There is a guided tour of the deer farm and everyone can have a go at hand feeding the deer.
There is an informal café by the indoor play area. There is also a lovely restaurant adjoining the reception called Woody’s which is highly recommended. There is a kids menu and a wide range of breakfast and lunch options as well as coffee and scones. The bacon rolls are to die for!
