Roves Farm

Roves Farm is one of the farm parks that I’ve been back to on numerous occasions with my kids and we’ve always had a great time.  It’s perfect for a full family day out and it’s still a working farm too.

It’s a family run business and you can really feel that when you visit.  Everything is professionally done with a great attention to detail but without feeling like a corporate run place.  You’ll always get a smile and great feeling from everyone working there.

It’s open 10am to 5pm everyday and is packed with things to do both inside and out.

Roves Farm Outdoor Activities

A trip to Roves Farm wouldn’t be complete without a tractor ride.  It’s all included in the entrance fee and they take you on a good half hour trip around the farm.  There are different themes running through the year with activities en route.  I’ve been at Easter where we stopped off to chase the Easter Bunny and we’ve loved the Bear Hunt too.  They’ve only just reopened these recently so there’s no theme at the moment but it’s still above and beyond the usual farm park tractor rides which are often just a loop around a couple of fields.  The Roves Farm tractor ride takes you on a proper adventure trip.

There are a couple of great play parks too.  The large one has lots of great climbing equipment, swings and a zip wire which is greatly for the older kids.  There’s a smaller park too with slides, swings and a covered sandpit.

Of course don’t forget to see the animals out in the fields or go on a family walking trail.

The animal racing is a little different and fun too (not running all the time).   There are several races with goats, sheep and pigs and the kids can run next to them on the other side of the fence to see who gets there first.

New on our most recent trip (Aug 2021) are the pedal go karts for over 6s and they still have the smaller ride on tractors for under 7s.

Roves Farm Indoor Activities

There are regular feeding and pet handling times at Roves Farm.  The goats are always happy to see you and in the spring you can see the lambs too.  The small animals like the rabbits are a big hit too.

If it’s a bit chilly or the rain appears, then you can keep the kids fully occupied inside too.  The rabbit warren is a lot of fun and totally unique.  Dark tunnels over several levels are much more fun than a regular soft play.  Bring a torch or buy a glow stick from reception to make your way around.

There is also a soft play area for under 3s and a more traditional soft play with curly slide and wiggly multi lane slide.

Roves Farm Café

There are lots of picnic tables inside and out for a picnic or treat yourself to something from their café.  As a working farm, they have plenty of their own fabulous sausages as well as other meals, cakes and refreshments.
