Have you ever been to Alexandra Park in Edgeley?
It’s only a 5 minute walk from Stockport station and around the corner from Stockport County but it makes for a lovely day out and there’s free parking.
Alexandra Park offers:
- 3 crown green bowling greens
- play equipment
- a tennis court
- a basketball area
- a skate park
- a pavilion
- a cafe and public toilets
- A gorgeous lake with wildlife
We love Alexandra park for the wildlife, there’s always quite a few fisherman on the shores and you can often see fish in the water! We love to feed the geese and ducks- (remember not to feed them bread) we like to bring seeds. Our little girl loves to get involved! It’s only a very small lake – it’s pram friendly and took us around 20 minutes to walk around!
We were absolutely shocked to see a turtle basking on a rock in the water! I have never seen anything like this before in England, I assumed perhaps it was a least pet on the loose but a fisherman told us there is 8 of them that have been in the water for years!
The play park is lovely, with a great selection of equipment for a wide range of ages but it does get quite busy.
The skate park seemed to be a big hit, whilst our little girl showed no interest there were lots of children and adults joining in.
The cafe has no indoor area and I must admit was quite expensive for what it was, though the brownie itself was delicious and clearly handmade.
