Longlisted for the 2014 Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Award, the Ashmolean Museum in central Oxford, is a treasure on our doorstep. With free admission it’s a great value trip with the kids.
Running on a continuous basis, the museum has a number of museum trails. You can pick up a kit from the Family Activity Station which also offers sketching materials. Try the ancient Egypt trail, Top 10 or Dog Detectives.
The Ashmolean Museum also regularly has a number of child friendly events. These are free with a suggested donation of £1 per child. Keep a look out on the Red Kite Days events pages for the latest in what’s on.
Are you 16-17?
You can start volunteering for certain events from 16 & 17 years. The Oxford University Museums and Botanic Garden are always looking for volunteers to help out, especially at family activities. Volunteers help at the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers Museum, Museum of the History of Science, University Museum of Natural History and the Botanic Garden.
