We had a fab afternoon splashing about in the paddling pool at California Country Park. It’s very clean and it’s like astroturf around the pool so it’s great for crawlers like Jax and the kids are less likely to slip Although, it’s not very comfortable to sit on so I’d recommend taking a picnic rug or blanket!
When does California Country Park paddling pool open?
The paddling pool at California Country Park in Finchampstead is now open for the 2023 season.
The pool is open from 10am to 4.30pm on weekdays, and 10am to 5.45pm on weekends and during summer holidays.
On weekdays until the 14th July inclusive, they expecting low numbers of visitors, pool users are welcome to stay as long at they like until pool closing at 4:30pm.
From 15 July, each pool session lasts for 1 hour and 45 minutes and you can choose your timeslot when you book.

The pool is big but very shallow and shallow enough for Jax to sit down in it.
I thought 1 hour 45 mins was plenty of time as you can have a play at the California Country Park playground or feed the ducks at the lake afterwards.

All children must be supervised by an adult. Anyone entering the water must wear a swimsuit. Babies to wear waterproof swim nappies.
There are toilets at the Jacksons Café (which serves hot & cold drinks & food) but no changing facilities. There’s also an ice cream hut
The parks can be quite busy at weekends but I felt the paddling pool wasn’t too busy at all
