Elm Nursery children’s farm is an ideal venue for a morning or afternoon outing with young children and this family run farm has been around for over 30 years.
There are many animals to see including alpacas, goats, Shetland ponies, pigs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and more. They even have a delightful donkey called Applejack who is very friendly and comes over to greet you when you visit.
The is perfect for an outing with young children. You can also purchase food to feed the chickens or the guinea pigs, we decided to feed the chickens are these were free roaming and Noah was more intrigued by them.
We had lots of fun walking around the animal enclosures and seeing the different types of birds. Noah was fascinated by all the different chickens and hens and was trying to mimic their noises. Applejack was very friendly and liked having his back tickled and Isabella loved seeing him up close.
The Goats were having lots of fun playing in their field chasing one another and we stood for ages watching them and doing some puddle jumping. It’s great as the farm is all enclosed so I know Noah was safe running ahead of me whilst I was able to push the pram around the animal pens.
There is also a small play area with a sandpit (suitable for under 5s), slides, rides on toys, little tikes cars, bouncers, climbing apparatus and a giant chalkboard you can place with. If the weather is wet then there is also an indoor section where you can play with the toys too.
There is ample seating around the play area and there is also a covered area too. You are welcome to bring your own picnic or you can purchase hot or cold beverages from the Elm Cafe. There is also a Farm Shop on site which is lovely to have a browse around.
A great value for money trip out, as you can spend the morning at the farm looking at the animals, playing in the sand pit and ride on toys, having a bite to eat at the cafe and then looking round the farm shop afterwards.
