A real outside ice rink has been installed at Yorks Designer Outlet over the festive season.

The ice rink is the centre piece of Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland surrounded by a festive market and traditional fair rides.

It’s got 975 sq m of real ice and 30ft high sparkling Christmas tree as it’s centrepiece, the rink is Yorkshire’s largest outdoor ice rink and there is a bar and cafe where you can warm up after you have skated.

We booked ahead but realised that we could have paid on arrival as there were plenty doing so. This would have saved us the booking fee!

It cost £36 for a family ticket for 1 adult and 2 children plus £3 booking fee to pre book. They have different family sized tickets for family of 3, 4 and 5 as well as being able to purchase individual adult or child tickets.

You select your skates in a large gazebo and then head out onto the ice for an hours skating. There is Christmas music playing while you skate around the large Christmas tree in the centre. This really made the activity christmasy and fun.

There is a photographer taking photos on the Ice which you can then purchase afterwards. We got a 6×4 photo of us in front of the tree for £5.
