Family Attractions Open Again in Gloucestershire

As the lock down starts to ease a little a number of places in Gloucestershire are now back open if you’re looking for a family activity.  Following government guidelines, many places require booking in advance and there are a number of changes in place.  Please check attraction websites in advance (all linked in red below).

Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens – Burford

For an absolutely fantastic fully family day out, take a walk on the wild side at the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens.  Opening from 17th June PLEASE NOTE: Online E-Tickets cannot be purchased on the day of your visit, therefore please buy E-Tickets online up to midnight the day before your visit.

Batsford Arboretum – Moreton In Marsh

Following the recent Government announcement that paid attractions can now reopen, Batsford Arboretum are welcoming visitors into the arboretum once again, to enjoy a walk in their spacious 60-acre grounds. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone, please check their website for additional information and guidelines.  The cafe and children’s area remain closed.



Beechenhurst – near Coleford

Car park, toilets and cafe for takeaway now open.  To  avoid crowds,  please be  aware you may need to  be  prepared to make the  necessary  decision  to  turn around  if the car park looks busy, or is full,  and come another time.

The Boathouse Cafe – Cheltenham

There is no seating on offer inside or out and they are operating with a one way order and collect system to ensure you get your freshly ground coffee hit, and scrummy ice cream in the safest way possible.  Boats are not yet available to hire.

Cattle Country Farm Park – Berkeley

Currently open Wed to Sunday, you can need to book either a morning or afternoon slot in advance.  As not every section can open they have hugely reduced tickets of just £5 at the moment.

Cotswold Country Park and Beach – Cirencester

Home of the largest inland paddling beach in the UK and they’re back!  Toilets are open, takeaway food available or book a BBQ but don’t forget to book in advance.

Cotswold Farm Park – Kineton

There are lots of great farm park across the country, but the original is the Cotswold Farm Park.  There’s extra signage and hand washing measures in place and outdoor food service and takeaways.

Eastnor Castle – Ledbury

The grounds are open every Saturday and Sunday from 30th May until 28th June from 10.30am until 5.30pm. Last admission will be at 3.00pm. Tickets are limited and must be booked online in advance.  Some of the attractions and facilities are closed but  the grounds (including the arboretum, valley lawn and lakeside walks), The Portcullis Toilets, The Ice Cream Parlour (card payments only) and the woodland play area are open.

Far Peak Climbing Centre – Northleach

Reopening on 13th June, with all activities now taking place outside.  Check their website for full details.

Forest of Dean Adventure Golf – Newnham, nr Cinderford

Due to Covid-19  they are open on a booking only basis. Come and enjoy twelve holes of pirate adventure themed golf. It’s great fun for all ages. The course is accessible and designed to allow everyone to have a great time. There are challenges at every turn with croc-infested water, pontoon crossings and something different at every hole.



Mallards Pike Lake – near Parkend

Over Farm Pick Your Own – Gloucester

This year, visitors will need to book a time slot online instead of simply turning up on the day, you can book your time slot here. This will allow us to limit numbers in the field so we can all maintain our distance. Slots will be priced at £2 per person and unlike other years this will not be deducted from your final spend.

Primrose Vale Pick Your Own – Shurdington

The PYO is now open, but you must book a free ticket to gain entry so that they can manage numbers on the farm…. The fruit doesn’t know about Covid, and is abundant as ever!

Sherdon’s Adventure Golf, Tredington, Nr Tewkesbury

Open from 10am to 6pm for some family golfing fun.   You must book in advance and the way you can is to book by calling 01684 274782 and they will reserve a time for you. The maximum group size is 4 players AND they must be from the same household. If you’re family is larger, they may be able to split you into two groups so give them a call to discuss options. . Following government guidelines, you can book a 2 player group with 1 player being from another household.

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre – Slimbridge

The Slimbridge Wetland Centre will be 0pening from Wednesday 10 June.  Please note that everyone needs to book their visit in advance. They’ve made other changes too and restricted or closed some of the experience. Visit the bookings page for details.
