A camping trip to Far Peak Campsite in the Cotswolds is highly recommended. With an indoor and outdoor climbing centre, a low ropes course, lots of biking options and a fantastic cafe there is plenty to keep the whole family busy, whatever the weather. The campsite is open from March to October.
Far Peak Pitches and Facilities
There are a range of grass pitches, electric hook-ups, shepherd’s huts and bell tents available in 25 acres of woodland and parkland. There is a secluded car-free zone available too. There are several blocks with hot showers and washing up facilities. You can make a fire be your tent using a fire pit (reserve in advance from reception) – wood is also available to buy.
Far Peak Campsite Cafe
There is a lovely cafe by the climbing centre serving great coffee, fresh croissants and bread in the morning as well as bacon rolls and other light lunch options.
We went at the weekend during the school summer holidays and there was also a good value BBQ option available in the evening serving burgers, kebabs and halloumi. This made a camping weekend very easy!
Far Peak Camping Climbing Centre
A huge attraction at Far Peak is the excellent climbing centre, with indoor and outdoor climbing walls. Kids can participate in a taster climbing course or can buy a wristband to use the indoor bouldering area throughout the day. This is a perfect wet weather option. Children (5 years+) and adults can also have a go on the huge outdoor climbing wall with a clip and climb system. These activities are all at an additional cost to your camping fee – see the Far Peak website for more details
It’s free to use the low ropes climbing course. My children loved this. There is a brilliant course of rope swings, tunnels and spider nets to navigate around.
Other Activities
There are biking options from the campsite. There is a cycle centre at the campsite hiring out bikes for children aged 7+ and adults.
There are also plenty of walks and nature trails from the campsite, including a walk to North Leach.
