Florence Park Oxford Review

Florence Park in Oxford was my new discovery today on an outing with my three boys and what a great one!  It’s situated between Cowley and Iffley Road and has plenty on offer for all ages.  We totally fell in love it, partly because the sun came out after days of cold damp April weather but mostly because there was a great variety and a lovely cafe called Flo’s.  I do love a play park cafe combo.

Florence Park Play Park

Apparently there are three children’s play areas but we came across the one next to the cafe and had so much fun we didn’t venture any further.  There’s a lovely big sand pit, swings, nest swing, climbing structures and a couple of slides, one perfect for toddlers and the other for bigger kids.

We spent ages on the see saw with my three boys on one end and me on the other.  My bottom is rather sore!  The surprising hit was a long runway of suspended thick rubber.  They ran along and bounced up and down for ages before crawling under and around and back and forth to the slides.

The wider park outside is lovely with tree lined avenues that would be great for biking or scooting and plenty of lovely spots for a picnic in the summer.

Florence Park Attractions

As well as the play park and space around to have fun, there is also a miniature golf course and five tennis courts (charges apply for these). Tennis court times can be found here.

Not to be missed is Flo’s – the place in the park which has the most gorgeous little cafe.  Check out my review of the cafe.  A community-owned hub for people to meet, work, play, create, learn, eat and connect.  It’s also home to the Florence Park community centre, Florence Park Nature Nursery and base for the Isis community midwives.

Florence Park Parking

There is no parking on site but you can park for free on the surrounding streets, there are multiple entrances to the park so you should find a spot although it might be busier on sunny weekends.  We drove to Rymers Lane and found a spot there without a problem.

Toilets

There are free public toilets right next to the play park near Flo’s Cafe.

Love finding new parks to explore, check out all the reviews on Red Kite Days.
