Fun Home Plans for this Autumn

Drinking hot cocoa topped with miniature marshmallows and watching the wind seem to endlessly swirl the ambient colored leaves around the deck is the picture-perfect scene for a holiday movie, all you need are the comfy essentials and you’re all good to go.  Think chunky knits, hand-woven wool blankets, and of course, the ultimate pre-winter accessory, a great pair of slippers for the home that feel like a cloud every time you slip them on.

There is nothing more satisfying than taking off your workwear and pulling on your joggers with a sweatshirt and feeling your tired, aching feet being enveloped by the warmth, softness, and radiating luxury of quality slippers which are just what you need after a long week of deadlines and meetings.

Taking care of yourself doesn’t always necessarily mean heading to the spa and getting treatments from head to toe to take the stresses away (although we aren’t saying no if someone would like to treat us, right), but you deserve luxury every day, and an elegant, high-quality pair of slippers can quickly ease your mind. And as you get into the swing of the autumn season with the colors of the trees and leaves changing daily in hues of orange and burnt reds, you can’t help but want to cozy up and do nothing but be in the moment. And who can blame you?

Autumn Décor to get you in the mood

When the chilly seasons are over and the flower buds are starting to poke up we immediately begin getting the home and garden ready for long days spent outside in the sun with chilled drinks and snacks, so why wouldn’t we do the same for the colder seasons. Readying the home for and during autumn is just as fun, it is certainly more homely and cozy with furry pillow covers and wooly throws laid over armchairs, and you have a great excuse to try out all the new flavor hot chocolates and ginger or cinnamon biscuits to go along with it.

Creating a feeling for the upcoming season could mean just switching out a few decorative items with other more fall-inspired ones, dimming the lights, and having a fire going on nights when it feels like winter has arrived early. If it sounds too much to undertake don’t worry, a few simple tips, and you will be well on your way to being the home everyone wants to visit and no one wants to leave the sofa. Let’s see what you can do to get your home in the mood for autumn.

Effortlessly Chic

I don’t know about you but going out to buy 50 bright orange pumpkins or lanterns and throwing them all over the porch, garden, and stairs is not what I have in mind for autumn festivities. While it may be around the corner from Halloween, we can take our autumn decorating up a level to an aesthetic that is more toned down, yet still impactful. You want to set the tone without it looking like it was an effort, and here’s how;

  • Fireplace features – Consider some foliage with dried stems, berries, and pinecones for a mantelpiece feature that compliments the ambient flames of the fire flickering in the evenings. Twigs from the garden are great, cost nothing, and help with pruning. Kids love collecting pine cones, in the forest, so why not make a morning of it and then head to the café for a hot treat?
  • Tablescapes – The dining table is a perfect spot to bring autumn in. Change the flowers to darker, moodier color options, compliment them with some (battery-operated) candles to set the mood for dinner – and you don’t have the panic of wondering if you left the candles burning as you head up to bed.
  • Reading nook – If you have a large armchair that everyone likes to cozy up into add a chunky, fluffy throw blanket, a feather pillow to squash and plump to get comfortable, and a new collection of books and magazines for everyone to enjoy.
  • Wreath – No, they aren’t only for Christmas time, wreaths are used all year round, and autumn is a wonderful way to add just that extra touch to the front of your home. Add a pine cone, orange leaf, and twig-filled wreath to your door for family and friends to feel the first sense of autumn before they come inside from the cold.

Simplicity and subtlety go a long way

Most of the tips are quick and easy to implement, and when your house looks and feels homey, you are in your loungewear walking around in the best slippers you have ever purchased, no cold season can ever get one over on you. Here’s to an awesome autumn.
