Geek Retreat is a nation-wide ‘geek culture’ retailer, gaming café and events hub, all rolled into one. Each Geek Retreat store hosts a full calendar of events, from TCG events such as Friday Night Magic and Pokémon Club, to community events and meet up groups.
However did you know that they also do Baby Geek which runs Tuesdays to Friday between the hours of 9.30am -12.00pm. There is no entry charge for attending baby geek, all they ask is that you purchase drinks whilst enjoying the set up here.
It’s the perfect place for adults to sit comfortably and chat, all whilst babies and toddlers play under their watchful eyes. There are plenty of table and chairs where you can relax, and a wide selection on the menu to choose from. Whether it be just a little brunch and a coffee or a delicious milkshake and lunch – there is something for everyone.
There is a section of the room dedicated to where the children can play safely, and various toys to keep them entertained. Isabella loved the dolls area, she had fun dressing up the dolls in various outfits, putting them to bed in the cot and taking them for a walk in the pushchairs. Dressing up is alot of fun too and there was a whole rail full of clothes which she enjoyed trying on – from superhero’s to princess’s there is something for everyone.
The baby area had bouncers for them to sit in, baby sensory toys and interactive toys. There was also soft mats on the floor so that they could freely crawl about and not harm themselves. The role play cafe area was a big hit, Isabella loved sitting the dolls here and pretending to cook them lunch and feeding them all. It’s a great way for her to learn as each item of food she was telling me the colour of it, and what type of food it was.
This is a great place to meet up with the little ones, as there are toys for the children to play with and space for the adults to sit and chat to other parents too. It’s a great addition to the town, and has something which appeals to all ages.
Throughout the week, weekends and during half term there is always something exciting happening. A few examples of upcoming events at Greek Retreat are: Pokémon Club, Chess Club, Family board games, Warhammer Club and other exciting clubs.
Each week there is a different club so it’s a great way to meet new friends sad experience different activities too. Plus you can purchase drinks and snacks here too, as well as other gaming merchandise relating to “geek culture” such as comics, graphic novels, figures and memorabilia.
