The last day of the school Christmas holidays my boys were niggling with each other all morning and it was just too cold and windy to spend much time outdoors. We’d been kindly invited to try out Gravitee Golf in Oxford which turned out to be exactly what we all needed. While our entry was gifted, as with all of the Mum reviews on Red Kite Days, they are 100% honest and I only include places I’d recommend to a friend.
There are two different crazy golf courses you can do, both with an out of this world theme but also very different to each other. We started off with Galactic Explorers which is the longer course but slightly easier. My boys were in high excitement and I thought it was all going to go wrong when my 7 year old took about 10 swings and still hadn’t hit a ball! He soon got the hang of it along with my 9 year old and they made their way around the course without needing any help from me.
Galactic Explorers has two main rooms, the first is an unknown planet that you’ve crashed landed on and then you make your way to a lost civilization that’s been swallowed up by the forest.
The course finishes once you’ve passed through a spaceship with a great mission control deck. I took a video and can’t believe I didn’t get a photo but I was being dragged around by three excitable kids. I had been dubious if it was something I could take my 3 year old along to as well but he loved it too. He had a smaller sized golf club and had a good go with a little help by picking it up and popping it in the hole every so often. The room set ups are different to anything he’s experienced before so just being there was half the fun.
The second course we tried out was their slightly shorter but more challenging Space Odyssey. Travelling across the moon’s surface, we all loved this indoor crazy golf course.
We even made friends with a couple of little aliens!
The last room was our absolute favourite. Lit with UV light, it was a super cool galactic spaceship. We stayed in here for ages and I had to drag my kids out at the end.
We had a really great time at Gravitee Golf and with the themed rooms making it so much more than any regular crazy golf course. While my 3, 7 and 9 year old enjoyed it, I understand it’s a popular spot for teens too. They even open late so would make an unusual place to go for a Mum’s night out or for a corporate team building activity in Oxford.
Gravitee Golf is upstairs at the Ozone Leisure Centre next to Vue cinema (by the Kassam Stadium) so you could squeeze in a quick game if you arrived early for a movie. The location also means there’s lots of free parking available too. Prices are reasonable too especially if you book online in advance.
