Heights of Abraham

Set in the heart of the Peak District, the Heights of Abraham includes a stunning cable car ride high above the Derwent Valley, breathtaking views and a host of attractions at the summit.  Your cable car ticket gives you a free right of way over the hilltop park including two famous caverns: The Great Masson Cavern and the Rutland Cavern & Nestus Mine.

Local mum, Jody Best went to the Heights of Abraham yesterday at Matlock Bath and sent us this review.

The Heights of Abraham is a great day out. We had a family ticket and were there for at least 5 hours!  There’s so much to do there – cable car up and down, 2 guided tour caverns, 2 play areas. Punch and Judy show, a tower and several viewing areas.

Within the grounds are two exciting play areas, Explorers Challenge and Woodland Adventure. The guided cavern tour follows a legacy of passageways and caverns from mining which was active for over 400 years.

It’s Dog friendly too (except the cavern!)  but take note that you have to wear masks on the cable cars and in the caverns.

Food and drink options – there’s a restaurant (takes bookings) and loads of picnic spots and you can buy ice cream. We took a picnic but enjoyed an ice cream.

There were clean toilets and lots of hand sanitizer and hand washing stations so very impressed with that!

You can walk down too if you don’t fancy the cable car!!

For parking at the Height of Abraham, the best car park is Matlock Bath Station which is £6 all day (August 2020).
