Hinksey Park is a lovely spacious area to run around and enjoy a picnic. There is a pond with ducks and swans, a good sandy playground with equipment for all ages and a bike track next to the river, leading in to Oxford. Combine a visit with a trip to the brilliant Hinksey Heated Outdoor Pool next door for a fantastic day out.
Hinksey Playground
There is lots to keep kids of all ages amused in this sandy playground. There are swings, a variety of interesting spinners and wobbly bridges. My son loved the scoops on chains and pulleys which could be filled with sand then hoisted up and tipped out. For older children, there is a fort with a challenging climbing traverse leading to a tunnel slide.
Hinksey Park
The setting next to the river is lovely and peaceful. Bring a picnic – there are several picnic tables and also grassy areas to spread out a rug. Have fun visiting the ducks and swans at the pond or bring bikes. The Route 5 cycle trail leads all the way to Oxford.
