Follow these steps to remove a cast iron sink without damaging the counter.
Step-1: Disconnect Waterline
Before you start removing the cast iron farmhouse sink, it is necessary to disconnect all the water supply to the sink. Turn off all the valves to the sink.
Step-2: Use of rag
The next step is to put the rage underneath the pipelines. It is because there will be some water in the pipelines which will come down when you remove the pipelines.
Step-3: Use of wrench
The third step is to use the adjustable wrench to loosen the pipelines. Lose all the pipelines to the sink. The right side of the pipeline is the cold side whereas the left side is hot. There are chances of water coming out of these pipelines. That water will fall on the rag you have placed below the sink. It will save you from creating any mess in this process.
Step-4: Remove the drain system

Step-7: Remove the P-trap and the drain lines
Once you have removed the P-trap, the whole drain system will be free and can be easily removed. A little bit of water will come out of the drain lines. This water will be sucked by the rag you put down on the floor. There is always junk and water in the drain lines and the P-trap. Be careful while removing it. Try to hold it still so that the water or the junk doesn’t fall on the floor of your kitchen.
Skip the next steps if you have the type of sink which removes from the top. In that case, just simply pull out the sink from the countertop.
Step-8: Place a piece of wood on the sink
The next step is to place a piece of wood on the sink. Make sure that the piece of wood extends to the countertop as well. This step is for your safety concern. Step-9: Use wire to hold the sink

Step-10: Unscrew the clips
There are clips underneath the sink. You need to unscrew all the clips and remove them. The sink will move down a little as you will unscrew the slips. But the piece of wood holding the sink with the wire will hold the sink from falling onto your head.
Take off the safety and remove the sink downward carefully. The cast iron sink is a little heavy so asking help from another person isn’t a bad thing here. Getting help will also save the sink from getting scratches while removed.
How to remove metal marks from a cast iron sink?
You can now remove the metal marks and scratches from a cast iron sink to give it a new look again. To do it, first, you need to clean the sink. You can clean it by using dish soap or a cleanser.
