Albeit chilly this morning, the sun was shining and it felt like such a beautiful winters morning. I don’t know about you, but I love having a local ‘go to’ when I want a freebie and a few hours keeping the kids entertained. Howe Park is always mine. The parking is great- and free!
We parked up and got ourselves geared up. All in ones, wellies, coats and hats. The girls had a play in the little park. It is really small but perfect for toddlers. The girls love playing there and always enjoy being able to do it all themselves.
We then took a stroll down to the pond. Be warned, the decking can become very slippy. We may or may not have had a bambi on ice moment so be careful! The girls love the little frogs/ toads (not sure which!) and enjoy a good sing song whenever we see them.
We then walked through the woods where we had the best muddy puddle stroll! It really is thick squelchy mud- bear hunt of course being sung along the way! Bella fell over, which of course encouraged Betsy to ‘fall’ and they acted like piglets in the mud! They were absolutely filthy but my goodness did they enjoy it.
We said hello to lots of older walkers who seemed to enjoy seeing the girls having a good time. We then went and climbed some trees, saw a few squirrels and a robin (how festive!).
Once we had exhausted all muddy puddle jumping we headed back to the coffee shop. Finding a takeaway coffee shop open during lockdown is somewhat a godsend! So we cleaned our wellies (they have a brush cleaner before entering) and we ordered a coffee (essential for mummy!) and some babycino’s. The girls had a cake each. The staff were super helpful and really friendly and kind. The cakes were amazing and we really enjoyed having a little picnic on a bench outside in the winter sun!
We then headed back to the car where a black sack was ready for us to strip down and change. Wet wipes at the ready too! What a wonderful way to spend a winters morning in lock down. We also love going there whatever the season… as I said it’s our fave ‘go to’ for a local walk and can be completely free if you’re not as frazzled and reliant on caffeine as me.
We will be heading back again soon!
