Kids Corner Cafe

I hadn’t heard of the Kids Corner Cafe in Banbury until it was nominated by parents and became a finalist in the Red Kite Days Awards 2018.  With lots of support from fans, I knew I needed to visit and find out for myself.

I finally made it on the very last day of the school summer holidays, slightly frazzled after so many weeks of finding fun activities for the kids.  I received a lovely warm welcome as soon as we made our noisy entrance.

The cafe is arranged over two floors so I ordered a cup of tea and we headed upstairs to check it out.  As well as the seating area on the second floor, there’s a room just perfect for little kids.  Having a small gated soft play area meant my toddler could happily play and I was able to sit down and have my first relaxed cup of tea of the holidays.  Next to the small soft play area there was also a good variety of toys.  I should have ordered a slice of cake as I would have had the time for that too!

After a good play, we headed downstairs as my older kids were getting fidgety (the upstairs area is best suited to preschool children).  With one of my boys being a fussy eater, I was pleased to find a good selection of food options that he would like too.  They have a range of sandwiches from ham, cheese and tuna to jam or chocolate spread.  Sausage rolls and a healthy kids platter with pitta bread, veggies sticks, ham and cheese also looked like good options, as did the breakfast options.

While our lunch was being put together, my toddler kept himself amused scribbling on the chalkboard wall and playing with a large dolls house.  There was colouring in activities on the table that my older boys got stuck into and then we chose some books to read.  If we’d had more time we probably would have ended up playing board games too.
