Unlocking Maths Potential
The Little Maths Room believe every learner has the potential to make progress, become more confident and enjoy maths given the right support and encouragement.
They provide informal diagnostic maths assessments and maths tuition for learners with Dyscalculia, maths difficulties, additional needs (e.g. those with dyslexia, dyspraxia or on the autistic spectrum), and those who just need a little extra support in a 1:1 environment to boost their confidence and achieve their potential. They also offer adult lessons including ‘help your primary child with homework’ sessions.
Their informal diagnostic assessment ensures they know exactly what the learner currently knows and understands and the methods they are using. The Little Maths Room then work to build understanding and knowledge, using effective consistent methods, within a personalised, structured and multi-sensory programme tailored to each individual and their learning style. We always aim to make maths fun!
The Little Maths Room in Blackthorn, near Bicester, was purpose built in 2017 to provide a private, quiet and well-equipped maths learning environment. It includes a separate relaxing parent/guardian waiting room.
Every maths lesson includes a written lesson plan which is personalised and structured to ensure continuity and progression. The emphasis is on providing a supportive environment to help boost confidence and make maths fun using concrete and multi-sensory teaching methods tailored to the individual’s learning style (that often means lots of games based learning!) If the lesson is for a child, feedback on progression is given to the parent or guardian at the end of each lesson. If appropriate, they also encourage open communication with the learner’s school and may be able to attend review meetings, parents’ evenings etc if required.
The Little Maths Room specialise in supporting pupils aged 7-14 years old but please do contact them if you require help for a younger or older child and they will do our best to help.
