Norfolk has some great beaches and Mundesley is an ideal one for kids and a little quieter than some of the other bigger more well know spots. You also don’t have a massive walk to get to the sea at low tide either.
The beach is set down below the town but easily accessible with a wide pathway and ramp leading down. Running along the promenade, the picture perfect, brightly coloured beach huts make a lovely back drop. Beach huts are are available to hire from North Norfolk District Council a week at time.
Sandy Beach
There’s lots of golden sand for making sandcastles and Mundesley Beach is super clean. We don’t spot one piece of rubbish left behind. It’s one of 6 beaches in Norfolk with Blue Flag status, an environmental award for clean and safe waters.
At low tide, the sea is shallow and ideal for younger kids to paddle and for older ones too if they fancy a swim. Look out for the distinctive yellow and red flags that indicate the stretch of beach which has an RNLI Lifeguard Patrol. They operate from 30 April – 11 September between 10am and 6pm.
Mundesley Beach Facilities
The last thing you want to do when you go to the beach with kids is have to trek for ages to get to a toilet. There’s a cafe down at the beach side and also toilets making Mundesley an ideal family option.
Mundesley Beach Parking
There’s no parking right at the beach but it’s really very close, even if you have young kids. The Beach Car Park is directly opposite Mundesley Beach and is pay and display. Charges (when visited in May 2022) ranged from £1.50 for an hour up to £6 for 4 hours parking. It’s cashless parking and you can pay by text message.
There’s a skate park, adventure golf and play park next to the car park if you need some extra variety.
