I had the most magical morning last week with my youngest on a ‘mummy day’. He’s not old enough yet to sit through a big panto so it was lovely to be invited along to watch The Bear at Norden Farm Arts Centre in Maidenhead.
With a running time of 55 minutes, it’s a perfect show to take young and primary school aged children too. I have to admit even as a grown up I was totally taken by the performances too.
Based on the Raymond Briggs book, it’s a wonderful adaptation. The polar bear is played as a puppet who you just fall in love with. Full of character, she comes alive before your eyes. There’s also great music and the whole audience of school kids and my son were transfixed. There are lots of laughs too, fun extra elements like a bubble machine and even some water pistol action.
Big credit also needs to go to the creative mastermind behind the set and scenery which adapts smoothly to regularly transform the stage.
If you’re looking for a feel good theatre treat that will transfix your child, get booking now before all the tickets go.
Norden Farm have a lovely cafe too with books and colouring for kids so you can squeeze in a meal or coffee while you’re there and still feel relaxed!
