Run-About soft play was a little tricky to find and I did get lost following Sat Nav, but still made our session on time. Apparently there are new roads which have been built since the centre opened which threw my Sat Nav into confusion.
Run-About is a soft play which is part of The Challenge Centre in Farnborough. They also do Laser Run and Ignition Racing for the older ones.
At first glance when you arrive it’s a bit like an abandoned warehouse and you will think you’re in the wrong place, but once you get inside it’s like a child’s dream soft-play centre.
The climbing frame is situated in the middle of the room and around the outside you have various tables and chairs, plus some sofas too if you wanted to relax in style. There are also old style arcade games which you can play on (for an additional charge).
There is a lot to explore here, on the bottom level there is a ball pit (and I’m not sure if it’s name) but it’s like an air machine. You place the balls inside it, and then at the tap of a button the balls are blown into the air.
Noah and Isabella both had alot of fun doing this. There is an interactive mat where games are projected onto the mats and you can dance, play games and also have fun chasing the objects. Various softplay climbing apparatus for everyone to enjoy at the lower level.
Once you climb up to the next floor you have tunnels to crawl through, various slides, rope bridges, windows to walk over, large balls to roll around, ropes to climb and lots more other exciting areas to explore. There is a lot packed into the main climbing frame itself. The height is ideal for adults too as it’s accessible enough for you to follow the little ones round too.
There is a separate area for under 3s which is fully enclosed and has their own small climbing frame with a slide, bouncy animal hoppers, play houses and various other sensory toys. There is also a bean bag area where they can relax on. They are able to play without the the older children being around them.
I would say that although the soft play is of the older version in the climbing frame style it was perfectly clean and well kept so that didn’t matter at all. The premises were child friendly with changing facilities and once inside the little ones were safe and couldn’t escape without an adult.
The Run About cafe offers tasty food and drink with a delicious range of hot meals, healthy snacks, sandwiches and puddings.
