Sproglets Play Centre

Sproglets is an indoor children’s play centre for under 5s, encouraging free-play and imagination. Having recently moved venues we knew we had to pop along and check out the new location at Normandy Cricket Club.

Sophie and Lisa who run the sessions are both Mums, and the amount of thought they have put into Sproglets is very clear – they have literally thought of everything. They understand what parents look for from a trip out, what makes a fun environment and a place where parents can meet other parents too.

The age that the playcentre is aimed at was perfect for my two children, they throughly enjoyed themselves and didn’t want to leave when the session had ended. Everything is based inside one large room which means you are able to see your children at all times without worrying about where they are.

The first thing which caught our attention was the sensory tent – a fantastic place for the children to explore and relax. There was so much packed inside the tent, there were bubbles tubes, light up bulbs, UFO’s and other really amazing colour changing lights.

In this area was also lots of musical equipment, Noah loved playing on the floor piano and watching himself dance in the mirrors. I think he must have tried every piece of musical equipment there was (although he was having great fun, my ears weren’t a fan of this).

Isabella loved that on the floor there was colourful water mats, and when you touched them you could see all the liquid inside moving about and the pretty colours.

Spread around the room are various activities / role playing equipment for the children to enjoy. Isabella was a fan of the activity table where she had lots of fun using the stencils and practising her colouring. Whereas Noah was loving the soft play shapes and ball pit – I lost count of how many times he said “cannon ball” whilst launching himself into the ball pit – he even took a shark and a unicorn on this adventure too.

For those needing a little quieter time then the book corner is ideal, with soft padded flooring, plenty of cushions and cuddly toys – it’s the perfect place to sit back and get lost in a book. There was also a selection of puzzles aswell which the children could do.

There were also tables set aside for trains and we had great fun building a track and pretending to be Thomas going around, there was another track for the cars too – these tables were great at holding all of the accessories and they were in easy reach for the children to play.

Role play and imaginative play are our all time favourite, and we all enjoy doing these and have great fun. Aside from the dressing up clothes (which there was a lot of choice) there was also an ice cream truck, a kitchen, a puppet theatre, a vets area and a supermarket till. Each of the areas had all the accessories and relating dressing up clothes so you could really get into character.

There was also a large baby area which was set upon a thick padded mat – perfect for the little ones who aren’t mobile yet. They had their own area of soft play and a small ball pit, plus jumperos, baby toys, sensory toys, interactive toys and a whole unit jam packed with lots of other exciting toys and games.

From speaking with Lisa and Sophie they mentioned that in the near future there is the potential to expand outside too. It’s a great location and they do have the space to do so, I heard that they already have a vast amount of toys and equipment for the next step for Sproglets. When the warmer weather arrives this will be a great addition.
