St Andrew’s is an established co-ed independent prep school for children aged 3 – 13, set within 54 acres of the beautiful Berkshire countryside outside the village of Pangbourne.
It is a warm and welcoming school with a strong family atmosphere that nurtures happy, grounded and kind children, who are stretched, but not stressed, by the all-round education. Small class sizes and passionate staff provide personalised learning and outstanding pupil wellbeing. Children feel heard, valued and confident in their own skin.
Pupils move on to a range of top day and boarding senior schools at 13+, with some awarded scholarships, and leave St Andrew’s, with a zest for learning and for life.
Flexible boarding is available Monday to Friday with no Saturday school, giving families valuable time together over the weekends. Breakfast and Supper Clubs, plus an exciting co-curricular programme, offer wraparound care for busy working parents.
St Andrew’s site is encircled by ancient woodland and beautiful sports pitches, with endless opportunities to play and explore. Every day, the children spend on average 2.5 hours outside, whether for sport or breaks. Nursery take daily trips to their Woodland HQ, and Pre-Prep have a Forest School lesson once a week.
At the heart of the School is the original 1885 house, built by Alfred Waterhouse. The land around it has evolved since the School’s inception in 1934 and now encompasses a state-of-the-art sports centre, which houses a 25m indoor heated swimming pool, climbing wall and dance studio. There’s also an all-weather astroturf, stand-along music centre and a dedicated Forest School, staffed by trained leaders. Next on the list is the development of the School’s Old Hall into a dedicated arts space for drama, art and DT, due in 2023/2024.
