We had a lovely walk this afternoon around the Cotswolds medieval market town of Tewkesbury. There’s lots of self guided trails you can take but we picked the one along the river Avon.
Despite the weather the scenery was still stunning and it was great to see Tewksbury Abbey throughout the back drop of our walk.
The kids loved scooting on the paved side of the river bank but there are walking paths on both sides. There’s also some great bridges to look over – a particular hit was counting all the ducks and spotting the different fish swimming underneath the Lilly pads.
After the riverbank walk we walked through the town – we didn’t realise how much there is to see there – several museums, chapels and lovely gardens. We also stopped for a take away ice cream in one of the local cafes.
Vineyards Playground
There’s also a fab play park in Tewkesbury, by the river & over looking the stunning Abbey. Park at Vineyards car park.
Parking was well signposted too and walking routes are well directed and easy to follow. All in all an enjoyable walk for a few hours with the grandparents, fun had by all ages even in the rain!!
