When visiting Arley Hall and Gardens we regularly stop in at The Gardener’s Kitchen Cafe in the stable yard. Their homemade cakes are amazing and I’m always pleased to find a gluten free cake amongst their selection.
Normally we take a picnic which is why we normally just buy cakes or ice creams. But this week my sister in law and I visited with it firmly set in our minds that we were having one of their lovely looking lunches.
The long counter is filled with a number of options. Freshly made sandwiches with salad, jacket potatoes, and their daily specials which was vegetable curry or a chicken jambalaya on our visit. For children you can build a lunch box with a sandwich, crisps, fruit juice and a treat for £4.50 (June 23).
We both went for a sandwich, which may sound basic but this was a truly yummy sandwich. We had one tuna and one ham. My ham was on really thick white tiger bread, with lots of good quality ham, salad and I asked for extra homemade coleslaw on the side. It was a wedge of a sandwich.
We got 2 cakes to share between us (a chocolate tart and a white chocolate and raspberry traybake) and a hot drink. It was only about £10 each which was very reasonable. We got an extra 10% off as we are Arley Hall Annual Pass Holders. A membership is really worth it as we visit quite a few times a year.
