Could sunflowers be the happiest flowers? If you’re looking to visit a pick your own sunflower fields this summer there are lots of great options around Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and nearby.
Some of the sunflower places to visit are simple farm fields and others have extra activities for kids.
SPOTLIGHT
High Lodge Farm close to Abingdon in Oxfordshire have planted 9 acres of sunflowers. Opening from 10th August for PYO four days a week (Thurs – Sun inclusive) between 10am and 4pm with the exact closing date to be confirmed.
This year, there will be a £1 entry fee per person, all of which will be donated to a local charity. No pre-booking required. Sunflowers are £1 per stem. Secateurs are a good idea because sunflower stems are quite tough. Free parking, toilets and refreshments will be on sale. There will be a very small number of straw bales to play on.
