Top 5 Tips for Visiting Legoland Windsor

We’re regular visitors to Legoland Windsor making the most of our annual pass.

The school holidays are always busy at Legoland Windsor.  Here are our top tips if you are are planning a visit.

1. Arrive Before Opening

Normally you are able to get into the park from 9.30am and head down to Miniland, you’re then much closer to the rides when they open at 10am.

Last time we went in the holidays we managed to get on The Dragon and Dragon’s Apprentice in 15 minutes by arriving early and so avoiding the queues of 45 minutes plus that built up for the rest of the day.

2. Plan Ahead for Your Day at Legoland Windsor

Measure your children in advance so you know what rides they can go on or not and book online in advance too as it’s much cheaper than buying tickets at the gate when you arrive.  Keep an eye out for special offers, there are often deals running with newspapers or Kellogg’s cereal.

3. Timings

The first couple of hours of the day are usually the best time to get lots of rides in so make the most of this time for the bigger rides. Around lunchtime seems to be peak busy time so save this for the smaller rides that don’t build up big queues.  There’s an app you can download in advance and free wifi when you’re there.  The app has queue times for the rides so helps you plan where to go in the park.

At busy times we also head to the other attractions in the park that don’t have queues like the 4D Cinema.  Last time we saw Lego Dreamzz, complete with fire, snow and water effects!

4. There’s More to Legoland than Theme Park Rides

Make the most of the wide range of things there are to do in the park, there’s so much more than the rides (as fun as they are!) Build and Race is a brilliant new Ferrari themed area where you can build a car and test it out on the tracks (and see a life size Lego Ferrari!)

5. Packed Lunch & Snacks

Lunch and snacks on a family day out can really push up the costs.  If you’re going in the cooler months, hot food flasks area a great idea for hot dogs and then just add to some rolls with ketchup and you have a hot meal in seconds!

Of course there is also Miniland to explore and several play parks. We love the Duplo Valley play park especially as there is a coffee shop right next door so the grown ups can refuel! You can also catch one of the fairytale themed shows in the Duplo Valley Theatre while you are in the area.
